Earthkit quickly spun around. "Really? I can help?" He ran up to Sleetfoot, slipping on an icy patch. "What can I do?" he asked as he sat up straight.

"This is a big job." He mewed seriously. "You are den mates with Bramblekit and you know his scent well. i need you to go through every nook and crack in the camp and see if he slipped out from any of the openings. can you do that?"

"Yes!" Earthkit went to the nursery and sniffed at Bramblekit's sleeping spot. Sticking his nose to the ground, he followed it out of the den and into the snow, where he lost it. /He couldn't have disappeared here, could he?/ He tried to find it again, by sniffing the area where it had vanished. A few moments later, he caught the faint trail that led him out of camp. "Sleetfoot!" He cried, turning back to the white warrior. "I found the trail!"

Sleetfoot nodded and bet his head low to the ground. 'Good work. Can you tell which way he went once he left camp?"

Earthkit focused on the scent, slowly inching forward to he wouldn't lose it. Then he noticed small pawprints in the snow, leading slightly uphill. "He's going up," he said to Sleetfoot, pointing with his tail where the trail leads. "I'm sure it's that way."
(( He was climbing, right? ))

**Um...Sure...**
Sleetfoot nodded. 'Good work. you'll make a great apprentice to some lucky warrior." he glanced around at the other cats murmuring in their group. "I'm taking Earthkit out. He'll be safe with me." He called back to them. "All right, lets keep going."

"Yeah, let's find Bramlekit!" Earthkit started following the trail. It went on for a little bit, the stopped at a large boulder. Earthkit put his front paws on it, seeing if he could grip his paws to climb. "I's slippery... Do you thing Bramblkit would have been able to climb it?"

Sleetfoot exhaled and thought about the young cat's question. Would he? This was Bramblekit's first winter and though it was nearly over, the young cat hadn't really been outside to witness it. Would he have known the correct way to climb? Well, it should be common sense for any cat. "I'm not sure. But Bramblekit is smart. he would have figured a way to get up if her really wanted to."

Earthkit just nodded. He parted his jaws to find Bramblekit's scent, but it didn't go anywhere except the boulder. A cold breeze began to pick up, blowing a powdery thin snow across the ground. /It's getting windy/ Earthkit thought. /I hope we find Bramblekit soon./ He turned back to Sleetfoot. "I think he did climb it." Without waiting for his reply, he turned around and tried to get a paw-hold so he could pull himself up, but the snow blowing over the edge was making it difficult. Slowly he inched his way up, no higher than Sleetfoot's head.

Bramblekit shivered. It was so cold. Within moments he was shivering for a different, more terrifying reason: a hawk's screech came from behind a tall rock, almost taller than the tallspire. The enormous bird whipped out from its nest and opened its menacing mouth wide in a loud caw. The little brown kit backed away, and almost would have fallen off the steep ledge behind him, if he hadn't knocked a rock down first. "W-w-h-whaa!!" he exclaimed. He was trapped, and he regretted ever coming here. He wasn't ready to join StarClan just yet hough, and yowled: "HEEEELP!" The hawk seemed to know what the kit was doing, but a louder cry came from a way away, from a much bigger hawk, and startled what would have eaten Bramblekit for dinner. The hawk flew up to where it could keep an eye on its potential prey and its potential battle, practically saving Bramblekit's life. "M-MOOOOOM!!"
----------------------------
The echo of Bramblekit's voice carried well through the rocks surrounding the camp, and his mother immediately dashed out to find him, not even caring that the underaged Willowkit was chasing tsound with her. In a short time, the passed the boulder where EArthkit and Sleetfoot were searching. "Did you hear that?!" the worried mother yowled.

Sleetfoot was about to leap atop the boulder to help block the heavy wind from the kit but he was stopped in his tracks. he listed frantically for the source of the noise. Of course he recognized the voice immediately, but the sound seemed to come from everywhere at once. Finally, he was able to pinpoint it. He had been about to speak to Earthkit when he saw Flowertail round the corner. "Of course I heard it, Flowertail but you need to go back to camp. I'll find Bramblekit and return him to you safely. Take Earthkit and Willowkit, they shouldn't be out here, the wind and cold is too strong."

Willowkit pouted, but Flowertail sighed. "Alright. I'll take them to camp. But you must let me help you find him!" Her eyes were full to the brim with worry, but also with determination to find her lost kit. "You /must/." Without another word, she turned around, Willowkit at her feet, and beckoned Earthkit to follow with her tail. She murmured gently, "Not very far, sweetie... don't worry about your brother, I'll find him...."

Sleetfoot knew better than to argue with a queen about her kit's safety. he nodded. "I'm going to go ahead, catch up with me." he turned and headed in the direction he had heard Bramblekit.
