Why are you at the camp when everyone else (for the most part) is at the lake? Is it just to distract Hawkkit? Also, I think Falcontail and Brackenclaw will have a good friendship--they both hate Hawkkit. xD

Wildstar stopped short of Falcontail when she caught the unfamiliar scent. The tom was equally alert.
"What do they look like, Falcontail?" Wildstar asked quietly, the newcomer at her back.
The tabby tom sniffed. "Dark pelt, small, zero threat."
Rolling her bright blue eyes, the black she-cat turned and approached the younger cat, sizing her up despite her almost-brother-in-law's assurances. Better to see it for oneself.
She motioned for Sleetfoot to bring her up to speed.

Recognizing the authority of Wildstar, Kaity lowered her head respectfully, but she regretfully felt her hackles raise again. "Hello" was all she managed, for even with the friendly words of Sleetfoot, her nerves began to rise. She hated what hunger and cold did to her, she wished she could have made a better first impression...

Pearlclaw was almost to the elders' den when she was distracted by a call from Bluesky, who was inviting her down to the lake. Pearlclaw wasn't thrilled by the idea of more cold and ice, but the lake would probably be really pretty right now… And Bluesky could probably use someone to help watch her kits, which she seemed to have with her. Or… two of them, at least. The fuzzballs next to Bluesky were blue and gold, so Coldkit was the missing one. Well, that was fine, then… Coldkit wouldn't be doing anything dangerous or breaking the rules. "Sure!" Pearlclaw called back to the blue queen. "Let me just check on the elders first, I'll be right over!"
However, before she could peer into the elders' den, Hawkkit came tearing into camp, skidding to rest under the Tallspire and shrieking at the top of her lungs about important news. Normally Pearlclaw would have dismissed this as the antics of kits, but Ashpelt followed the young, light-pelted she-cat into camp, and although Ashpelt was not necessarily the most mature of cats, this decreased the likelihood of this being a prank or game. Slightly.
As cranky Brackenclaw came grumbling out of the warriors' den- why was she not surprised that he hadn't gotten up yet?- Pearlclaw wandered a little closer to the Tallspire, watching the antsy Hawkkit with interested eyes.
Dawnkit was thrilled when her mother came over, since Rainkit wasn't answering her questions very well! Still, she mentally filed away his correction of her speech, although "smow" still sounded much better. Even though Bluesky had been distracted by Pearlclaw, Dawnkit peppered her mother with a barrage of questions. "Mommy, where are Hawkkit and Moonkit and Tinderkit? Can we wake up Coldkit? Can we play in the snow? Where's Daddy? Is he playing in the snow?"
Then, joy of joys! Hawkkit came into camp! And she had important news! At the Tallspire! This was either really exciting, or the best game ever! Dawnkit raced over to the Tallspire and threw herself at the older kit. "Hawkkit Hawkkit Hawkkit! Where were you? What's your news? Is it really important? Look at all the smow- I mean, snow! Have you tasted it yet? It tastes like cold! Coldkit is still sleeping, do you want to wake her up with me? Why are you with Ashpelt? Where are Moonkit and Tinderkit?"
Eventually, she had to stop to breathe.

Meanwhile, Lightfur was dreaming that she was eating a marshmallow. Later, she would wake up and her pillow would be gone!
Oops, wait. Cats don't have pillows! I meant tail.

BIC: Hawkkit nodded to Dawnkit. "It's real important!" she said. She turned to face the rest of the cats and cleared her throat as she raised her head. "I have important news!" she called out, "There is a loner down by the lake named Kaity! She wants to join the clan! Wildstar is talking to her now, along with Sleetfoot and all of the other cats who aren't here!" she paused for a moment, and then continued, "It's too bad Lightfur couldn't be there! She was there when I joined the clan, but then she got sick! Now she's sleeping. She's been sleeping for a while now! Is she going to wake up?" she paused again, "But anyways, Wildstar's talking to Kaity now and she might join the clan! So, anyways! There's a loner down by the lake!"

Ashpelt felt he should add to that before the cats started panicking. "The loner is no threat, but it appears she will be brought back to the camp. Hawkkit and I wanted to make certain no one was surprised by an unfamiliar scent. That is all."

Sleetfoot couldn't help the flood of relief that brushed against him when he felt Wildstar step up next to him. He turned to the black cat. "She says her name is Kaity. She is a loner who heard about MountainClan from a few larger, gruffer cats. She desires a new home and came in search of us to ask if she can join our ranks."
He dipped his head to the smaller loner cat, trying his best to reassure her and keep her from being afraid. Wildstar may have power, but she was a fair and just cat and would do what StarClan advised her to.

Of course, right as she was about to head out, Hawkkit exploded into camp and started yelling some nonsense from under the tallspire. It figured, Bluesky was probably going to miss all the funnest parts of the day... She padded over to where Pearlclaw was and plopped down unceremoniously, twisting her ears towards the camp entrance to wait for this loner Ashpelt was talking about.

Rainkit watched his sister bothering Hawkkit, then, hearing her talk about waking Coldkit, he wondered why his other sister was still sleeping. (*coughsleetfootcough*) She didn't usually sleep in this late, so she must have had trouble falling asleep the night before. Shaking his head, he followed his mother and cuddled into her side for warmth, his fluffy kit fur sticking out in an attempt to keep himself warm. It was easy enough for Dawnkit, running around all the time made her blood flow, but right now Rainkit was quite grateful for Bluesky's tail wrapping over him. He was content for now to set his dark gray-blue eyes on the camp entrance and wait.

Shadowchase was admittedly glad when Ashpelt became preoccupied with Hawkkit and the loner, because it meant that the smoky cat wouldn't be pushing him any more. He started to carefully pull himself over the ice, trying to let himself slide along but always becoming in danger of losing his balance when he did. In the end, he was glad to pull himself onto solid land again, and wandered over to where Wildstar was greeting the stranger.

**XD oops I do play another cat don't I...**
Coldkit had finally gotten asleep the night before and she was completely zonked out. There was nothing on earth that would wake her now.
Except the crazed yelling of one of her denmates...
The sound of Hawkkit coming in and yelling about important news made her entire sleeping world come crashing around her ears. She blinked awake, completely ticked off only to find herself not at home, but in Starlight's den, cuddling up to Lightfur with Fallentree watching over her. She backed away from the comatose cat, slightly creeped out. She knew the cat was still her deputy and still alive but it was still weird...

Kaity shook herself slightly, and sat up a bit straighter. She did trust that the black warrior was just, and she just hoped that she was worth it in the end. She waited expectantly for Wildstar to speak.

"If you wish to join us, you will have to be prepared for our way of living. Before yourself is the clan, always. If you really wish to stay with us and not merely pass through here, perhaps we can arrange an apprenticeship for you," Wildstar explained coolly, then smiled. "In the meantime, enjoy yourself on the ice with us. Politics can come later."
It was better that this Kaity get a feel for the clan atmosphere before she even think of stepping into MountainClan's camp. The others could also form an opinion better in a casual setting.

Kaity nodded. Relief warmed her body when Wildstar had not turned her away. She even smiled a little as she said "Thank you, Wildstar. I'll do my best to understand all of your ways." She glanced at Sleetfoot and grinned. "So, what were you doing on the ice?" she asked, having been in such shock from nerves that she could hardly remember. Had they been playing a game? Or just sliding around.... She remembered something about a pine cone, though....

"Hey, Sleet! When're we gonna play hockey?!" Falcontail bellowed, sliding across the ice to the trio. "Nothin' like a human game to get the blood pumping!"
Wildstar rolled her eyes at the tom, a bad habit she'd been unable to shake since she was an apprentice. "Falcontail's practically a Twoleg now, you'll have to excuse him."
The tabby curled his lip. "You're just mad that you're bad at hockey!"
"Hawkkit will be mad if you don't show her how to play," the black she-cat replied dryly.
