Warriors Cats...The Musical?

Haha yup I'm that lame/nerdy/desperate!

I am going to (attempt) to write full length musical set in the warriors series. It will be audio only (for now?) and I have only just begun (I have the first four lines!).

So, what i would ideally like is to have you guys be some voices? Because it is a musical, there will be singing for the major characters and some minor. Because I don't know any of you're voices, I'm unsure of the general place to cast you're cats or which to choose.

If you would like to 'be in it' either your cat, your voice or both, please let me know! Also, if you have name ideas for 'extras' I would appreciate that too

The one thing I do not want is a female dominated Clan :/ So I can't have the leader, deputy and medic all being female :/ however there will be plenty of other roles including love interests, siblings and queens.

ACT I

Scene 1

THUNDERHEART nudges SUNKIT awake. The younger growls and moans tiredly.

thunderheart

Sunkit, you need to wake up. Today is you're day.

Music begins swelling in background

moonkit

But ma...I'm tired!

THUNDERHEART

No you aren't, young one. Today is you're big day!

Moonkit sits up and rubs his eyes. Slowly, what his mother is saying starts to dawn on him. he jumps up and goes center stage. SPOT LIGHT.

It's Here!

It’s been six moons,
Since I smelt the air
I’ve known since the start
My claws were meant to rip-and tear!

The path of a fighter

WILLOWKIT

Since I first saw light

They all ate nice plump birds
He only took a rat,
The devotion to his Clan, I loved

Since they found me lost
They welcomed me,
I have their trust

Sunkit, please come forth. {pause} You have plagued the nurcery for quite some time now and are ready to move on. Do you promise to train hard and uphold the warrior code?

HAWKSTAR

Then i name you Sumpaw. Shatteredheart, your fighting skills are among the best i've ever known. You will mentor Sunpaw. {pause} Moonkit, do you promise to work hard, uphold the warrior code and deticate all of your loyalty to this Clan?

MOONKIT

I do...

HAWKSTAR

Good. From now on you will be Moonpaw, apprentice of this Clan. Flowerdragon, you are my deputy and one of the best hunters in the Clan. You are to mentor Moonpaw. {pause} Willowkit? You have expressed an interest in becoming one of the most important cats in the Clan. Are you sure this is the path for you?

WILLOWKIT

Yes! yes it is Hawkstar!

HAWKSTAR

(chuckling)

Then I name you Willowpaw, Medicine Cat Apprentice. Galaxyfur?

Of course I will look after her, Hawkstar.

StarClan! I say these words before you so you may hear and accept these apprentices as full Clan cats.

I would love to do some voices! I'm not as confident as I would like to be in my singing voice, but I am working on becoming a stronger vocalist. My singing range is an alto, though I've explored the possibility of being a female tenor, which doesn't really give me the range most soloists need. I think I could only do female voices, though if needed I could play a younger male role. I'm most comfortable in the age range of apprentice to younger warrior, though I could try to stretch. I can send you some clips or do some Skyping with you if need be.

As far as names for extras, I still have the entire Clan lists for GhostClan and FrostClan lying around! I can PM them to you if you like.

This sounds like a great idea and I really want to see this get its paws off the ground. I'm willing to help in any way possible!

Ok great! How would you feel having a 'Willowpaw' as a Medic apprentice? I was kinda thinking along those routes for you anyway.

And the lists would be great!

How are you with composing? And Lyricising?

And um as far as composing and lyricising... I have never tried it before! So I really don't know! I can certainly try, but I can't promise quality. ^^;

I would love to voice a role! I generally sing soprano, though I can sing any range needed. I can belt quite well if needed for a song. I have past experience with musicals. I have played Miss Hannigan in Annie, Asaka in Once on this Island, and The sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood, among many others. I would love to play a role!

I would totally love to participate. Unfortunately, I have a rather low speaking voice that could easily pass for a young man or a bored girl. xD Still, I can sing decently, in a lower soprano or a semi-manly tenor. Fo shiz. Let's just say I can play butch females and younger males.

As far as the composing thing goes, I just realized that I have a brother who has a talent for that sort of thing! I could maybe force my own musical opinions on him as well as lyricize it which might work! Would you like us to try that?

Then Wildy, if you don't mind I'll probably cast you as a male, (depending of course, you will all need to audition ) and Hawky I;ll work you in...Maybe as a kit or something. Do you prefer a younger or older role?

Hawky, your musical resume makes mine look terrible. Probably because mine is terrible. But seriously that's awesome. Asaka takes some serious pipes, whether or not you do the junior version.

I would prefer an older role, though i can play a kit if necessary. I have a lower voice, but I'm good with doing different voices. (I do a mean Kate Monster from avenue q.) When i get a minute, I'll send you a voice sample and you can decide where you want to cast me.

Do you want us to send you a singing audition? I'm having a lot of trouble finding a song that's in my range. The closest I've found is "Nothing" from A Chorus Line and I can't belt it. :\ I also have no idea what kind of music will be in this show.

Yea...I'm not really sure what sort of music will be in it either :/ The only thing that can really come to mind is in the Very Potter Musical style, but I want it to be more of a drama then a comedy so i'm not sure :/

But any kind of singing audition will be great. I'll have lines up eventually XD

Oooh! Hawkstar? Me Gusta! And if you want a singing audition, I could send you one of me singing, "There's a Fine, Fine Line" from Avenue Q. I don't know how soon I'll be able to get it to you, but I can do it hopefully by saturday...

Also, I could help with lyrics if you'd like. I'm not excellent at writing lyrics, but I'm still alright.

Ok...well if you'de like to help that's great. Basically it's gonna start out at the begining of an Apprentice cerimony and three kits are being named, Sunkit (warrior) his sister Willowkit (medicine cat) and a rogue kit who was found two months previously, Moonkit (warrior).

Some song ideas I had in mind was a training duet between Sunpaw (who strives to be the best fighter in teh forest) and his mentor Shatteredheart (male). Or a quartet with those two and Moonpaw and his mentor (and deputy) Flowerdragon.

There will also be a warrior ceremony (end of act one) which may or may not be a song. There will be gatherings and a Greencough epidemic (maybe a ballad for Willowpaw or a duet between her and her mentor...dun dun dun...GALAXYFUR!)


The main plot is going to be about Sunpaw and Moonpaw. Sunpaw was always afraid Moonpaw would take his spotlight and Moonpaw was just scared because Sunpaw can be a jerk sometimes. As they start to train together, they see their paths are actually different, Sunpaw wants to be the best fighter, Moonpaw wants to be the best hunter. They learn to accept eachother. Then during the second act, their friendship starts to become more then that. They don't even see it, but It's Willowpaw who brings it up to them about their feelings being deeper then that. Then the two toms struggle with their identity from their about (maybe) being gay. (It's never gonna come strait out and say their gay or anything, thats left to audience interpretation).

There may or may not be an 'evil plot to destroy the clans' side plot, i dunno :/ Any critique or ideas for good supporting characters or other songs are definitely welcome
