Wildstar awoke early that crisp late-summer day. It was the beginning of Gingerpaw's apprentice training, and, hard as she tried, the leader could not stem the nervous energy flowing through her veins. She waited outside the apprentice's den quietly.

Ooc: Goodness, I'm so late, aren't I?! I'm so sorry, really. I won't even get into how much homework I had the past few days. I just feel really bad. Bic: Gingerpaw was already up and springing about inside her den - along with a few other of her over-excited den mates - when she saw WildStar emerge at the entrance. She shook out every paw one by one to remove some of the jitters. She was surprisingly energized despite not being able to sleep the night before, 'must be my anxious nerves' Gingerpaw thought and came dashing to greet her mentor.

Ooc: Don't! I'm shirking my homework to come on here. It's better you handle school first.
Bic: Wildstar held back a smile as she watched her eager apprentice charge from the den, remembering when she herself had been a soliatary, quiet cat. 'Not anymore,' she thought, her own apprentice would certainly keep her from that. "Alright, Gingerpaw. The first thing an apprentice should learn are the Clan boundaries. Despite the fact that there aren't really any Clans close by, it is important that passersby know they are entering our territory." The sleek black she-cat began to trot off, knowing her new apprentice would probably be bored with this all-too-necessary lesson.

Ooc: Well, it's the weekend as of right now so I won't have to worry about homework for another day. :3
Bic: Gingerpaw kept her bouncy exterior, but inside she was just about ready to roll her eyes. 'Why must we do this now?' She said inside her mind, but what came out was an overdone happy-go-lucky phrase, "Ooh, this'll be fun!"

Wildstar trotted on, without looking over her shoulder as she replied. "Good, because we may be out here for a while."

Gingerpaw thought about lightening up the mood with a joke, but she stopped herself doubting if it was the right time for that. If Wildstar was acting serious, so would she. Ginger was still a little kit inside, and young kittens learn by observing and imitating. So naturally, her posture straightened to match that of Wildstar's.

Wildstar approached the rock-bowl rim of the camp. Climbing with practiced ease over the slight drop that formed the Clan's official campgrounds, the black she-cat stood watching her apprentice from the height. "As you can see, this is the boundary for the Clan's camp, and this rim is only the first challenge you'll have to face while hunting or patrolling the boundaries."

"Wow, that's high!" Gingerpaw rocked back on her hind legs, half-sitting, and propelled herself upward. But she was destined for failure, as her small, still baby-like muscles didn't quite meet expectations.
As she slid back down, she gazed upwards to see Wildstar's reaction.
Ooc: Sorry for long reply. School got the best of me. x3;;;;

Wildstar held back a smile. New apprentices never made it up the rim. Their kit muscles were still present, making it near impossible to climb any such cliff for at least a quarter-moon. In fact, most of the warriors couldn't do it at first, anways. "You're doing fine, Gingerpaw. Just take the pathway to my den for now."

Gingerpaw nodded and padded forward at a leisurely pace, but she glanced up several times to see Wildstar. From far below, she felt it was difficult to hear the pawsteps.

The jet-black feline waited patiently, a skill she had honed since birth. Gingerpaw would climb the rock wall in time. Would become a good warrior in time. Eagerness and a good attitude were the first steps to a good apprenticeship.

OoC: Yay, new account! Btw, is what season is it in the rp? I'm assuming it's summer or spring...
BiC: Gingerpaw arrived at the den and sat down - she was still tired from trying to catch a rather quick-footed mouse - until she caught sight of a yellow monarch butterfly. Giving into her kitten instincts, she pawed at it. When it flew away, she slowly turned back to Wildstar. If only cats could blush!

Ooc: Read my first post. :3 Late summer.
Bic: This time Wildstar allowed herself a small smile, it would probably do to lighten the mood just a tad. "You've got some practice to go with those butterflies, Gingerpaw. I always found it better to imagine they were great black crows, and I was a stalking warrior. In the meantime, when flying prey are scarce, this is the proper procedure to stalk ground prey." The black she-cat proceeded to lower the front half of her body, rotating her ears forward to catch sound better. Her haunches stuck up instinctively, and her tail was ramrod-straight behind her, avoiding the sparse grass beneath. "The one thing to remember when stalking is that you have to be aware of your whole body. You can't just be focusing on your front paws, you have to make sure your back paws are in-sync, or you could end up tripping over something and startling your prey. "Now you try."

Gingerpaw hunched over, imitating Wildstar. Her sights set for a fallen oak leaf. Eyes widening, she waited. After a few seconds, Gingerpaw grew tired of waiting and flew forward, pawing and kicking the leaf as she went.

Wildstar rolled her eyes to the sky, as if seeking help. She had forgotten how hyperactive some apprentices could be. 'I'm sure this will be an enriching experience,' she thought to herself.
