He nodded. They would need all the food they could get their paws on for the Long Night feast. He stood and stretched his hind legs, then bounced up and down a few times. "I would be honoured, my friends. He nodded respectfully to the young kit. "Soon you will be joining in on hunting patrols, SmallOne." He turned to NatureSong and Bluesky. Are there any apprentices who would like to join us?"

((No active ones, anyway. xP))
Bluesky shook her head and headed towards the entrance. A few fox lengths away from it, she burst into a run and flew up the rocks. She paused when the flat - and now icy - spot was behind her, and called down. "The moss hasn't frozen yet! The climbing is easy once your past the icy spot!" She turned and started picking her way up the rocks.

In a single, powerful leap Sleetfoot made it to the icy flats that she had been talking about. With a slightly smug smile on his muzzle e easily and quickly made his way across the frozen surface. He cought up to the skygazzer and his smile widdened. "The 'icy spot' wasn't that hard eather." He waited for NatureSong to arive. She-Cats first after all.

Naturesong's eyes flew wide, joy sparking deep within her. With a bellow of joy, she threw herself onto the ice, and began skating on the surface. "Whee!" she shrieked. She felt more like a kit then when she had been one. Suddenly feeling childish, she finished with a graceful land on the other side, and hopped over to her friends. "We should come back and take a quick skate when we're done," she mentioned.

Bluesky flicked her tail over Sleetfoot's ear, and turned as Naturesong climbed up. Her face seemed stuck between frowning and laughing, so she just shrugged. "Perhaps we will..." Then she froze, seeming as if she were just a boulder, then pressed herself against a rock and prowled forward slowly. Her pelt blended in with the rock, so well that it would've been hard to find where she ended and the rock began. Then she stopped, crouched, and pushed forward quietly. Her paws skimmed the snow for an instant, then splashed red as the rabbit failed to escape. She sat up and sniffed, turning it over with a paw. "It might have had something worth eating on it for once, but it's better than a mouse." She picked it up and glanced around for a place to bury it, sweeping fresh snow over the blood with her tail.

Sleetfoot smiled and let his tail fall over her shoulders. "Very good for a Mountain Dweller." He smilled. "But watch a Snow Hunter do the job." Like a flash he was in a hunters crouch weaving through the rocks. His pelt mixed with the snow. Closing his eyes so the prey would not spot him, he used his nose and ears to locate the digging bluejay. In an instaint the bird had forgoten about it's worm. Trying to take flight it almost made it when it was struck down by a paw. It's head hit a rock and it died instaintly, blue feathers stained red. Sleetfoot opened his eyes and picked up the bird throwing it into the hole with Bluesky's rabbit.
His ear pricked and he was back down. Running only a few feet, he stopped, then returned a thin but meaty mouse in his jaw.

Bluesky's eyes followed Sleetfoot's movements, watching appreciatively as he caught more prey. She flicked her ears and pressed down onto the rock once more, perfectly still. Suddenly, she took a flying leap and skidded into a low hollow, surprising two stringy squirrels. She hopped down neatly, eyes sparkling. The squirrels tasted like old moss, but she wasn't about to reveal that. She buried them into the hole, and turned to Naturesong, flicking Sleetfoot's pelt smugly. "Well, enough with our showing off. It's your turn, now." She settled down next to her friend, waiting for Naturesong's first move.

Naturesong rolled her eyes. "Show offs is right! But even with this pelt I can hunt." A small rustling signaled the approach of prey. Turning, she realized there was a vole hardly a few tail lengths away. Flicking her tail for silence, she payed close attention to it. There was quite a bit of meat on its bones, and she decided that the fresh-kill pile would not be robbed 'till bare this year. She slowly padded forward, thankful to StarClan that it was not gazing in her direction. Once it was a tail length away, she pounced, realizing with a jolt of satisfaction that it was not a vole, but two voles. "Yes!" she murmured, trotting back through the snow to where her friends were.
"Ta-da!" she squeaked happily. "Talk about skill! I'd like to see one of you do that!" After burying her small meal, Naturesong leapt onto the rock for another catch. A mouse caught her eye. It was almost pressed against the rock on one side. All she had to do was fall onto it and in a quick bite, it was dead. "There. You guys can show off again," she called.

Bramblekit's amber eyes sparkled in wonder for a few moments before Sleetfoot left. He sighed before whispering, "I wanna be like that...." He spuna round to face his mother and sister, to shout, "I wanna be like that!" Flowertail purred. "You will be, by the time you're a warrior." "That's a long way away Mama," Willowkit said worriedly to her mother. "Not too long!" Bramblekit exitedly began prancing on imaginary mice and birds. Their mother gestured with her tail for her kits to follow her to the fresh-kill pile where she tentatively drew out a rabbit. Bramblekit and Willowkit began to nibble on the animal, as if they were afraid anything other than milk would harm them. But they soon realized how good it was, and they each took several tiny mouthfuls before moving away to let Flowertail eat. Bramblekit started to pad away, when his sister decided to catch him off-guard. she took a playful pounce which was followed by a grunt and a "hey!" Willowkit mrrowed in laughter before being knoked over on her back by her brother, which was followed by even more laughing.
ooc: Sorry I was gone so long.

**So cute ** Sleetfoot let his pelt ripple over his slim but powerful shoulders. "Skillful yes, but I'm still the master. You can catch the prey that runs on the surface but to be a true Snow Hunter you must learn to beyond and beneath." He let his tail fall to his muzzle, giving the signal to be still and quiet. He lowered his ear to the ground. It twitched a few times as he walked a few soft steps to a tree about three fox lengths away. Slowly, the snow masking his scent and sounds, he dug into the earth. Amazingly, a small hole started to appear in the ground. He let his crystal eyes fill the den with light. A large family of mice were huddled together in an old rabbit den. Careful not to take to many, he let his paw do the searching, returning with three fat mice. He recovered the burrow entrance with snow. The two blue eyes met the six yellow ones. Captivated, the mice stopped struggling and went limp. There was an understanding between prey and hunter here that could not be shared from a swift blow from behind. As if accepting their deaths the mice made no more movements and with a quick bite to each, they were gone. He returned to the pile and placed the three bodies in the roots, somehow less excited to show off his skills than before.

Natruesong's eyes widened with fury. "You think you can just take them from their homes?" she shouted in Sleetfoot's face. "They don't have a chance if you know where they live! They have a hard enough life trying to survive in the cold of leafbare. Don't you realize that over hunting the prey is like a sin to StarClan? Not to mention that eventually the prey could run out if you keep this up! Do you hunt like this every time you go out? Honestly, I..." As Naturesong continued her rant her voice raised and she crept a bit closer to Sleetfoot.

He stood his ground physically, though his eyes shone with the same displeasure as Naturesong's. "There were over fifteen mice in that hole, I only took three. I am not over hunting them. We all need to eat. I followed the laws of the Great Ones in taking their lives. They knew, as I did that this was how it had to be. Their own spirits have flown to MouceClan. I take good care of my food's family. I will return tomorrow with berrys for them."

Bluesky's eyes widened with distress as her two friends fought. She let out a soft swoon and stepped toward Sleetfoot, then to Naturesong. She was torn between who to side with, and she shook her head, aggravated. "Please stop fighting!" She yowled in desperation, starting to shake slightly as she felt the pull of her friendship with each cat push her in a different direction.
((Maybe I'm overdoing it...? Scratch that, I'm completely overdoing it. Oh well...-_-'))

Sleetfoot's eyes softened as he stepped towards Bluesky. He bumped his head lightly against her's. "You two carry on hunting. I'll take this food back and get to work with the others on decorating the camp,"
**I found out an awesome *But vet gruesome* cat way to make Santa hat's involving only a rabbit some red berries and some vines. *Grinns* this is gonna be fun...**

((-is /still/ stupid- Ha, I knew that. -not- Dx
Gross!! xO))
Bluesky frowned and bit her bottom lip, then nodded tensely and went to Naturesong's side. "Let's go..." She murmured, glancing back at Sleetfoot as she brushed her friend's flank with her tail, trying to lead her into the forest. She hoped with all her heart that Naturesong would forgive Sleetfoot.
