Called upon now for a Clanmate in need She leapt to the task, with all proper speed
Her bright eyes were thoughtful, intent on her task The paw of the one who'd called Leopardmask
Was it broken, she wondered, or just simply sprained? She examined for wounds and thought, Poppy for pain
Finding no bleeding, she looked at the cat "How did this happen? Where were you at?"
"You need to keep weight off this paw if you can. Try to stay still, for now hunting is banned.
If it hurts you too badly, I can give poppy seeds Though there's not much else I can do for your needs
The only sure cure for a sprained paw is rest Though I know that that's not what warriors do best."
OoC: I'm reading this over and I sound like a bad version of Doctor Seuss. Oh dear. Ah, well it will do.

Lightfur blinked thoughtfully, before glancing over at the medicine cat. She seemed to be examining Sunwing's paw. Had the warrior been hurt? Ah, well, she would ask what it was about when they didn't seem so busy. "If there is something I can do to help, simply ask." Of course, as a deputy, she was nowhere near as close to Starclan as Wildstar or Leopardmask. It would have been nice to be one of the chosen ones to receive visions, prophecies, and the like, but that was not her fate, it seemed. But she was content with supporting Wildstar and serving her Clanmates here, below the stars. After all, Starclan was ageless and deathless. But cats here needed protection.
"Would it be all right for me to lead this morning's patrol, or is there something else you need me for?" Lightfur asked. She hadn't been on patrol in a while, but she didn't like to leave the leader when she seemed to absent. Wildstar had always been an intelligent, competent, kind-hearted leader, though, so if she said it was all right, Lightfur would have no qualms about going.

Sunwing licked the paw and winced. "I was hunting, and that mousebrained bird-" she nodded towards the limp, gigantic shape on the fresh-kill pile, "-and it decided I'd make easy prey. It thought wrong." She flexed her claws, a little put off. "No hunting? Well... okay. You're the medicine cat. Thanks, Leopardmask." She mewed, and limped away to tell Wildstar. Lightfur stood nearby and she dipped her head respectfully at the deputy. "Good morning, Lightfur." She mewed, licking her fur briefly.

"Good morning." Lightfur mewed, nodding back at Sunwing as she turned her attention away from the leader for a moment. "Are you injured?" she asked, noting that the other cat walked with a limp. It was bad news if she was… Besides the fact that it was always bad to have a warrior temporarily disabled, Sunwing was a talented hunter, and it would be that much harder to provide freshkill for the clan.

"Well... yes." Sunwing indicated the limp bird lying on the fresh-kill pile. "Apparently it thought I was a kit of some sort. I taught it a lesson the hard way, but I fell off the cliff-edge and twisted my paw." Sunwing lifted the injured paw and sank her claws into the earth, adding, "Leopardmask says I have to rest. I don't know for how long though. Hopefully not too long."
She glanced at Wildstar, hoping she'd heard.
Ooc:// SO COOL! I went to an Erin Hunter book signing and Victorie Holmes signed my Firestar's Quest and Fire and Ice!

Silverclaw noticed Lightfur's troubled gaze as she talked with Sunwing. She had heard of the young warrior's injury through the low murmurings that travel swiftly through camp. Padding carefully over to the two, she hoped to settle the uneasiness and lighten their conversation.
"Hello, Lightfur, Sunwing," she said, dipping her head respectfully to her clanmates. "I don't think any of us in this clan have to worry much about you, Sunwing. I'm sure you won't let a simple paw wound burden you." She winked playfully then turned to address her deputy.
"I'll trace the borders while Sunwing rests, to gather more freshkill for the clan and also to be sure that was the only troublesome bird of its kind. I wouldn't want to find a clan of its own after us, especially with an injured, though quickly recovering, warrior." Silverclaw waited patiently for Lightfur's approval, as well as her leader's. She was well aware of Wildstar's prescence and calmly dipped her head in respect.

Lightfur brightened at the sight of the other cat. "Silverclaw! Yes, I believe that would be perfect." She knew she could trust the warrior, and was somewhat glad that she would be able to stay nearer to her seemingly troubled (though very illustrious) leader. "Wildstar, do you think that would be all right?" It seemed rude to just agree with the warrior, without asking the leader's opinin, since Wildstar was right there.
OoC: Wildstar! Illustrious leader! Where are ye? D=

Sunwing purred briefly in amusement and mewed to them, "That sounds like a good idea. I'm off to the den, catch up on some rest maybe. Apparently it's the only thing I can do for the moment."
With a dip of her golden tabby head, Sunwing turned and padded off to the warrior's den, curling up in her place near the center of the den. The warming sun broke through the leaves overhead, and when Sunwing finally fell asleep, her dreams were haunted with images of kits mewling in terror and huge birds soaring overhead.
Ooc:// Bleh, it's not very good. Sorry. v.v;

Bluesky turned her head and watched the rapid exchanges of her clanmates, getting lost in the process. She glanced at the apprentices den again then wandered over. She dipped her head to Wildstar (Illustrious leader! Come guide us in this dire time of need! X3), then meowed. "May I also join the partrol?", She flicked her head towards the apprentices den. "Ivypaw is sleeping like a hedgehog in Winter in there, so I don't have anything to do.", She paused, then added jokingly. "I can't even bug Sunwing now that she's asleep!"
((Oh wait, yes I can! -bug bug- X3))

Ooc: Pardon my language, but, foxdung! I'm terribly sorry for my abscence. D:
Bic: "Yes, Silverclaw, that's a splendid idea," Wildstar forced the troubling thoughts from her mind, with some difficulty, but, managed not to let it show. "You can go as well, Bluesky. If you would like to go as well, Lightfur, I welcome you to do so."

"Thank you, Wildstar," Silverclaw said, "We should leave immediately, I think. The clan is in need of freshkill and those birds may be close." Silverclaw glanced at the camp entrance in contemplation, her mind echoing her leaders troubled thoughts. What had caused these birds to act so violently? Are there more, a clan of their own as she had mentioned?
"What do you say, Lightfur? Should we leave now or gather a few more cats? There's no telling what we'll encounter. Bluesky and I are capable fighters, but caution may be best." Silverclaw tried to be strong for her fellow warriors, trying not to burden her deputy and leader with more worry, but she was terrified to find any trace of an enemy so close to home. She shook away some of her fear and concentrated on Lightfur and Bluesky and the thought of freshkill.

"Hrm...", Bluesky gazed around. "Who else could we take...?" She was trying to sort through all the Warriors, but right now she couldn't think of any others they could take. She clawed anxiously at the ground, wondering what would happen if the clan was attacked by these ferocious birds, images of the clan being ripped by cruel talons flashed before her, and she shivered, pushing them away.

Silverclaw noticed Bluesky shiver and could only imagine why. She knew the recent events had shaken every cat somewhat. Silverclaw moved to Bluesky's side and cuffed her over the ear in a friendly manner. "We'll be fine. No featherbrained bird is going to take our clan. We'll just toss them into the freshkill pile." Silverclaw believed she, Bluesky, and the other warriors could overcome the birds if anything happened.

Bluesky nodded, comforted by her clan mate's faith. "We'll just have to trust StarClan and our skills." She straightened up, a determined glint in her sun-yellow eyes. Then her belly grumbled. She glanced around, embarrassed. "Uh...Maybe I should eat first...?" She flashed a sheepish look at Silverclaw before hurrying over to the fresh-kill pile.

Lightfur mewed softly with amusement as she watched Bluesky make her way over to the heap of freshkill. "If I go with you, it should be all right." she addressed Silverclaw. "Since there are these birds in the area, it might be wise to leave more warriors to protect those who cannot protect themselves. It makes little sense with such an enemy to have too many warriors out on patrol for fear that they might be attacked, because with birds, who don't need to climb past our defenses and such, they can as easily attack our clanmates as the patrol." The tip of Lightfur's tail swished against the ground, as she wondered if what she had just said had made any sense whatsoever. Wasn't a deputy supposed to sound intelligent? She sounded like a kit trying to explain ten things at once, a tangled mass of words that probably obscured more than it clarified the point she was trying to make.
